This is a 3 session course on queen rearing. The instructors are Joe Maresh and Paul Stromberg. The first session will be Friday April 21st at 7pm online via Zoom. This will be the didactic session were we go over the process of queen rearing. All are invited to this session. The Zoom link is HERE We will be using a grafting method with Cloake boards. The second session will be Saturday April 22nd where we will practice grafting. The third session we will be grafting for real and placing them in cell a builder/ Cloake board set up. Queen cell pick up will be on May 9th. Depending on success rate, individuals can expect to get 1-2 queen cells. It will be up to each individual to set up mating nuc(s) at their own apiary just prior to this. Session one is open to all. Sessions 2 and 3 are limited to 20 people where we will divide into 2 groups. Group A will meet from 10:00-11:30 and Group B will meet from 12:00 to 1:30. This has been very popular in the past and if we have more than 20 people sign up, we will have a lottery April 7th to pick participants and alternates. If you are selected as a participant, the cost will be $15.
